Freelance Workshop Manager
Responsible to: Production Director
Duration: Freelance, fixed term contract
Project dates: 1 July 2025 to 20 September 2025 (w/c 21st July – off)
Location: The Old Vic, 103 The Cut, London, SE1 8NB and wider London area.
Fee: Fixed fee of £12500.
Role Summary
The Old Vic Theatre Company is seeking a versatile workshop manager / project manager for a large-scale construction project.
Areas of responsibility
The successful candidate will:
- Work closely with the in-house production management team and technicians along with freelance staff in the preparation, refurbishment and installation of a new theatre space.
- Take responsibility for set up and day to day running of a workshop space covering H&S, staff supervision / co-ordination, scheduling etc.
This is not an exhaustive list of duties, and we may, at any time, allocate other tasks which are of a similar nature or level.
Person Specification
Essential
- Experience in project management/scenic construction or production management.
- A hands-on approach with some demonstrable skills in areas such as set construction, stage carpentry, metalwork or scenic art
